Wedding Flowers: Think Green

wedding-planning-tipsWhen selecting your wedding flowers it is very easy to get carried away with the beautiful hydrangeas, tulips or roses.  After all, these flowers come in a variety of colors and have been shown in the most fairytale of weddings.  Unfortunately, though, these flowers also come with a high price tag.

Instead of blowing your wedding budget on these popular blooms, save your money by going green!  By this, I mean, incorporating more greenery into your bouquets, church arrangements and centerpieces.

A few of my favorite wedding flower greens include ferns, ivy, and lily grass.  Although, depending on the location or season that you are getting married, you can get creative with greens such as palm (perfect for a beach or destination wedding) or pine (perfect for a winter wedding).

Using all greens can create a fresh and elegant setting; however, if you are craving some color add in a few stems of cheaper wedding flowers such as carnations or daisies.

Regardless of what greenery you decide on, make sure that you (or your florist) buy them in bulk from a wholesaler, to ensure the best price possible.  If you are creating your own do-it-yourself wedding flowers, make sure to keep your eyes open, as you may be able to find them on the side of the road for free!

Don’t forget that these greens are also great for decorating your church pews, buffet tables, and even your cake!
