Although the summer is winding down, we are still experiencing extremely high temperatures around the country.  For those brides, who want to save some money by doing their own wedding makeup, here are a few tips to keep in mind.  You can still look beautiful while battling the heat and humidity!

  • In the upcoming weeks (or even months) before your wedding, start exfoliating on a daily basis.  This will take the dead cells out of your skin, and give it back that healthy fresh look.
  • Don’t risk having your foundation melt off your face.  Use a tinted moisturizer instead, which will help cover your minor imperfections but is much lighter on your skin.  Try to find a moisturizer that contains SPF, to also help protect your face from sun damage.
  • When selecting your eye shadow, go with a creamy sheer or a natural shade, as they tend to cake-up and clump less (or at least show it) in the heat.
  • Using waterproof mascara is a must, to ensure that your mascara won’t run along with your sweat (or tears!).  Also, swap out your black mascara, which could turn gray throughout the day, for a blackish brown or dark brown.
  • Forgo the eye and lip liner but if you can’t live without it, opt for a liquid,  as it will less likely smudge.
  • The same goes for blush – go with a cream or gel and stay with the pink or natural shades.  If you rather not use blush, try a bronzer.  Apply it to your forehead, cheeks and nose to give you a natural suntan look.
  • Put aside the dark heavy lip sticks, for a lip gloss or tinted lip balm.  Again, try to find a gloss or balm that contains SPF, to prevent your lips from cracking.  A sheer or iridescent gloss or balm may look pretty in the sunlight.
  • If you fear your face becoming a greasy mess, once you are out in the sun and humidity, carry around blotting or oil absortbant papers.
