Secret To Finding A Discount Wedding Dress: Just Ask

This is a simple, yet could be a very helpful wedding tip.  When out looking for your wedding dress, ask the bridal shop if they have any returns or no-shows in the back.

Sure, almost every bridal shop has a clearance rack and/or advertises specials but what many people don’t know, is that there may be even more dresses in the back, that you can get a really good deal on. 

Weddings get called off, or after a bride finds the “gown of their dreams” she walks into another bridal shop and finds the “ultimate gown of her dreams”.  So, then what?  On occasion, the dress gets returned or even more common, the dress never even gets picked up.

Regardless of the reason why, these bridal shops want and need to get rid of these dresses.  The problem is that they may have already been ordered in a specific size, with some type of alteration, or the dress might be last seasons style.

This would’ve never occurred to me, however, my husband and I went to a wedding last year and this is how the bride found her dress.  She was in a bridal shop trying on dress after dress, when the saleswomen said to her, “You know what, we ordered a dress for a bride who ended up calling off her wedding.  She never picked up the dress, so we’ve had it sitting in the back forever.  We think you will love it.  It’s exactly what you are looking for.”  Sure enough, it was.   

The bride ended up getting a designer dress for half the price, and the bridal shop finally got rid of the dress that’s been taking up space.  It’s a win-win for the bride and bridal shop, so don’t be afraid to ask.
