Save With Signature Wedding Drinks

by Nicole Onofrio on May 19, 2011

When planning a wedding on a budget, a sure quick way to save money is to make changes to your beverage and bar service.  Relax…I’m not saying to cut it out completely, I’m just saying to do things differently.

Instead of having a full open bar with a million different liquors, serve just beer, wine and a signature cocktail drink.  Ask the servers to greet your guests with the “special” drink as they arrive to your cocktail hour or reception.

Pick a fun signature cocktail drink that represents you and your husband-to-be, your wedding location, colors or even your nationalities.  If you are having trouble getting creative, I’ve listed a few yummy recipes below.

Kissed By A Strawberry Champagne Cocktail

1.5 ounces of Vanilla Vodka

1/2 oz strawberry liqueur

Splash of Cran-Pineapple Juice

Combine first three ingredients, add champagne and garnish with a ripe strawberry.

Caribbean Romance Ingredients

1 1/2 oz Light Rum

1 oz Amaretto

1 1/2 oz Orange Juice

1 1/2 oz Pineapple Juice

1 splash Grenadine

Mix the rum, amaretto, orange juice, and pineapple juice, shake well with ice, and pour into highball glass. Float grenadine on top and garnish with an orange, lemon, or lime slice.

The Something Blue

2 oz. HPNOTIQ (liqueur is a blend of natural fruit juices, premium vodka and a touch of cognac)

2 oz. white wine

1 oz. ginger ale

Serve in a Champagne flute.  Slice of star fruit garnish optional.

Italian Wedding Cake

2 fluid ounces vanilla vodka

1 fluid ounce cranberry juice

1 fluid ounce pineapple juice

1/2 fluid ounce amaretto (almond flavored liqueur)

1/2 fluid ounce white creme de cacao

Pour the vodka, cranberry juice, pineapple juice, amaretto, and creme de cacao into a cocktail shaker over ice. Cover, and shake until the outside of the shaker has frosted. Strain into a chilled martini glass to serve.

These drinks will definitely have your guests licking their lips.  If none of these drinks fit your wedding theme, then ask your wedding venue or caterer for some ideas.  Enjoy!
