Every bride wants to look their best on their special day.  Unfortunately, wedding hair and makeup services can get extremely pricey.  With that said, there are a few tips that you can follow to help save your budget, while still looking beautiful!

  • Skip having your hair and makeup professionally done for pre-wedding events such as your bridal shower, bachelorette party or rehearsal dinner.  Instead, save your money and splurge on these services on your wedding day.
  • If you decide to hire a professional makeup artist for your wedding day, purchase or ask them for samples of the cosmetics that they used.  This way, you can handle your own touch ups throughout the day, without having to pay for your makeup artist to stay on hand during your wedding day events.
  • If you are comfortable enough, do your own makeup.  This is the ultimate way to save money, when it comes to your wedding day beauty.  To get some free makeup tips, visit your local department store or cosmetics store such as MAC.  Make an appointment ahead of time for a makeover, where you will learn how to apply your makeup properly and pick out colors that work best for your skin tone and wedding colors.
  • If you have a favorite hairstylist, ask if he/she is willing to do your hair outside of the salon.  If you hire your hairstylist on a freelance basis, they may charge less, as they do not have to pay the salon a cut.
  • Look into discounts.  Many salons or artists/stylists will offer a reduced fee if you also make appointments for all of your bridesmaids (and mothers).  If you decide to do a trial run prior to your wedding day, they may also offer you a discount for getting both the trial and wedding day services done.
