How To Save Money On Your Wedding – Negotiate!

Negotiate, Negotiate, Negotiate!  Whether you are planning a wedding on a budget, or just looking for a deal, that can be a very helpful word.

In this economy, many vendors are willing to negotiate to get your business.  For example, a florist may throw in an arrangement for the restroom, or your DJ may throw in some props such as maracas and hats at no cost.

The vendor that you can probably negotiate with the most, is the venue where you are having your reception.  It is always worth trying to negotiate the price per person.  If the original price is $100 per person, try negotiating it down to (for sake of this blog) $85 per person.  If you have 100 guests attending your reception, right there, that is already a $1,500 savings.

There are also many services and/or amenities that you may be able to work into the contract at no cost such as chair covers, valet parking, coat check, vendor meals (for your DJ, photographer etc.), an upgrade to top shelf liquor, or even an ice sculpture.  At my wedding, our venue also waived the bartender and chef fees.

Regardless of how small the amount is, just remember that it all adds up!
