Finding Quality, Cheap Wedding Photography
Trying to find a deal on wedding photography is almost impossible, as most photographers have packages that are set in stone. There is a great way around this, and that is by finding a photography student at one of your local technical schools or colleges.
Most of these students are going to school because they want to make photography their profession and because they love doing it. Therefore, if you find the right student, you could get some amazing pictures for a very affordable price.
Some students may offer to take pictures at your wedding to fulfil an internship requirement, so they may not charge anything at all (although it is still nice to tip the student if he/she did a nice job). Other students may be doing it for the experience or as a side gig, so they may charge but a very minimal fee.
Since digital photography is so popular these days, the student can save your pictures on a CD for you to review. From there, you can bring the CD to a local store or pharmacy such as Walgreens. You will be able to select what pictures you would like to be printed, as well as, what paper material and print size you would like.
Another option (and my favorite!) is to download your pictures, off of the CD, on to a website such as Kodak Gallery then create a photo book. Before you begin, check out the comparison chart to help you decide on the material and style of your book, cover design and how many pages to be included.
This tip is a really simple way to find quality cheap wedding photography.

Nice info. Hire a student to take a photo. It cut cost and can save a lot of money
IMHO, “Quality” & “Cheap” is an oxymoron. Sure you could hire a student, but you won’t get the same professionalism, experience, & “quality” as you would going with a pro. I find it funny that you say this, but then the picture you use for this post is from a high end professional wedding photographer in CO.
If you would trust a beauty school student to cut your hair on your wedding day or an amateur to alter your wedding dress, then sure take the risk of hiring a student photographer as well…but remember your hair may grow out & you can buy another dress, but you can’t redo your wedding pictures.
Hi Nicole, this is a good point but many of the student photographers that I’ve worked with have built some amazing portfolios, and do have some experience doing freelance work for family, friends, school newspapers and/or as an assistant to a pro. I’m not saying to trust any student photographer, I’m just saying that I wouldn’t down play the capabilities of a student. This site provides brides with tips on how to plan a beautiful yet affordable wedding. If a bride is looking to spend more money on her dress or flowers, and doesn’t want to break the bank on a photographer yet they still would like to capture their special day on print, this could be an option to consider. Of course, I would recommend looking at the student’s work, and checking out some references before hiring them.
