DIY Wedding Favor Idea: Sweet Treats
After reading Sharing Affordable Wedding Planning Tips, revealing that edible favors were most popular among wedding guests, I decided to try this do-it-yourself (DIY) favors project. It is guaranteed to leave you, your wallet, and your guests happy.
Brown paper packages all tied up with string *cue Sound of Music soundtrack* compact size and hiding a sweet treat will surely please everyone at your wedding.
For this project you will need:
- Brown wrapping paper
- Scissors
- Tape
- Chocolate or any small, square shaped treat
- Embroidery floss (color of your choice)
- Little flowers like Baby’s Breath (optional)
Note: If embroidery floss is a bit too pricey for your liking, you could easily replace it with string or twine. Just make sure it’s not too thick! Also, with whatever treat you end up using, make sure that it is pre-wrapped so that it doesn’t melt and make a big mess once packaged.
Step 1: Take the treat and measure out enough wrapping paper so that you can wrap it. Tape the bottom but make sure to leave the top open with enough paper left so that you can bunch and tie the top (sounds confusing but it will make more sense in step 2!)
Step 2: Now take your string and tie the top of the untaped package together. It might be a bit difficult to maneuver if you have stiff tape, so you might want to enlist some help in tying the knot–no pun intended.
Step 3: Now you can take your flowers and add that final touch.
If you want to take the personalizing of your treats a step further, you can custom order an ink stamp with you and your fiance’s initials and stamp the front!
This project is not only extremely easy and inexpensive, but incredibly cute. These sweet treats can be placed either on your guests’ dinner plates or piled neatly in a basket on the reception table. Wherever they are, they’ll surely brighten up the mood and leave your wedding guests with their sweet tooth satisfied.
This project was inspired from a DIY project found on Project Wedding, but I switched it up a bit because I thought it might be cuter. Enjoy!
